She’d been slated to donate when a man who she thought was a savior came and offered her an out. A free ticket to America. She was half Chinese and half American so he’d claimed she would get amnesty. He’d been wearing a doctor’s coat and had saved her from being attacked.

  Tai put her hand on her chest, feeling the beating through the skin and bones. She wouldn’t have survived the donation they were going to make her give. A person didn’t survive a heart transplant if they were the donator of said heart. She shivered, wondering how anyone could be so demented to do such a thing. She was human. How could they contemplate wheeling her into a hospital room and take her heart out and give to another without any compunction? Knowing it was done made her sick. So, when she’d been offered a lifeline, she’d taken it without thought, landing in America to be sold into another form of hell.

  She took a shaky breath, looking around at the men and women she’d come to admire. She’d be leaving them and would miss each of them. But the one man she’d miss the most, the one she couldn’t allow herself to care about stood next to the leader named King. Cosmo, he was too good for the likes of her. He was sweet and handsome, and good. She was dirty. So dirty she couldn’t let him see just how filthy she was for then he’d hate her. No, it would be better if she slipped away before he got too close and found out for himself. A man like him deserved a woman who was his equal, not a woman who was damaged. Dai-tai was more than damaged, she was trash.
